Agricultural Livestock
Information for Trainees
The LandSkills East training courses will
help you as a farm worker or farm owner. The courses have been
designed with you in mind. If you are just starting out in the
livestock industry there will be training in key areas such as animal
care and welfare in your particular sector of livestock. There
will be training on the nutrients that your animals will need to
either produce a good product or be a good product. If you sell
your own produce then you can train in customer care to help you in
the day to day running of the farm and its customers.
Our programmes assist you to move on from the
beginning of the farming ladder to the next step, they are designed
for people who find themselves in a position of responsibility with no
prior training. The training provides a good understanding of
how to manage people in a productive and efficient way. Being a
farm manager sometimes is not just about managing a farm, it also
involves marketing, customer relations and training of other staff
members. Incorporated into LandSkills East training is an
introduction to information technology to help the farm run more
efficiently and record information on a computer data base.
Farms owners in this sector will be able to access
training for farm managers and further training to develop strategies
to improve their business understanding, risk evaluation and
investment needs for future growth. To be competitive you will
also need to understand the market you are aiming at and your level of
cost control.
