Arable & Horticulture

The East of England is probably the richest region in
the country for food and crop research facilities. The Arable and
Horticulture elements of the programme will focus on developing
technical skills across the industry, improving knowledge transfer
from research partners and will look at limited resource management
such as water and diffuse pollution issues.
The industry is becoming increasingly technical and
there is a need for sophisticated knowledge transfer systems to ensure
that employers are up to date and can maximise returns by employing
the latest techniques and technology.

“There is recognition that food and
renewable fuel production has to increase dramatically at an
international level in the very near future, and East Anglia is
able to play an important part in this process. Although the
Arable and Horticultural sectors of production within the region
are already established, it is essential that the people involved
are able to develop and rise to the challenge.
Landskills East is an excellent initiative to facilitate
this professional growth, and I am pleased to help represent those
within the industry who can gain so much from the training and
mentoring that is available.”
