Training Aims
The content of the training is up to date and is
designed to answer the needs of the industry. You will have the
support of eminent farmers, and others associated with the industry
through the Arable and Horticulture Skills Group. The Group will
oversee and support training in this sector to ensure that your
training covers up-to-date knowledge and technology.

The Arable and Horticulture Skills Group have
signposted the importance of the issues below:

Technical and managerial skills for the crop
production sector which introduce new techniques that will lead
to improved business efficiency and profitability

Technical and managerial training to address the
skills and knowledge transfer needs of the arable cropping, food and
production horticulture sectors primarily in relation to
competitiveness (performance, market development, cost control etc.)
and objective setting.

Technical and managerial training to address the
skills and knowledge transfer needs of the arable cropping, food and
production horticulture sectors in soil management

Training in relation to sustainable land management
focusing on energy use, and waste management, and environmental
enhancement

Training in water resources management to
encourage local learning groups on water efficiency and innovation
in irrigation and the development of collaborative water management
and investment plans, including training which encourages research
into new systems and techniques

Training in relation to the reduction and
minimisation of diffuse pollution and protecting water quality
